Andrew holds a degree in Real Estate and Urban Land Development and has always had a passion for real estate investing. He currently works as an Urban Planner and continues to do investing and property management on the side. My educational background is in Business and my primary work has almost always been within the financial industry so I have learned most of what I know about real estate through experiences and being married to Mr. Real Estate himself (my nickname for Andrew). I would like to share our property story with you within the boundaries of a basic timeline. Why, you ask? Because to tell you the story of each property and how they were acquired would take FOREVER so I will share that with you through our regular blog posts over time. Also, just a side note before we get started. I will never reference our properties by there true street names which is a policy obviously to protect the privacy of our tenants.
So here we go...
2002 Joy purchased her first property at age 19. Three bedroom, one and a half bath single family home in Louisiana.
2004 Andrew purchased his first property at age 19. Two bedroom, one bath condo in Virginia.
2008 Joy purchased a three bedroom, one and a half bath town house in Virginia.
2008 Andrew purchased a four bedroom, two bath single family home in Virginia
2009 Property Management Company was born
2010 Andrew and Joy purchased a four bedroom, two bath single family home in Virginia
2011 Andrew and Joy purchased a 3 bedroom, one and a half bath single family home in Virginia.
We still own all of the homes that are listed here with the exception of the first one in Louisiana. Owning several rental properties with a strong likely hood of owning several more in the future was the driving force for us to form our property management company in 2009. We don't offer property management services to the public, we strictly manage our own rentals. With so many rentals it is just not cost effective for us to hire a property manager and the added cost was not something we were willing to accept.
